Memories of being pregnant

Secret Agent Josephine has a post about her first flutter and Brooklyn Girl has a post about feeling like something out of Aliens. And so I've been remembering feeling Muffin Man move around when I was pregnant with him and one particular moment that still gets me giggling.

I was working up until the last day and about a month before I was due, I was standing in a friend's cube, talking about a shower gift she was giving to another pregnant friend. I was standing about 2 feet away from my friend (the one on the right), she was sitting down and her face was about on a level with the top of my huge tummy. While we were talking MM decided to switch positions. On my left side a large bulge popped out of my tummy, slid over to just above my belly button and - whooosh! - disappeared. My friend nearly fell over. She slid her chair as far away from me as she could get.

She still shudders thinking about it.

Ooo, I had a similar experience in a crowded auditorium when I was 8 months pregnant and LG decided a little breakdance was in order. I could she the people around me flinching in their seats. Good times!

Oh boy. This thread reminds me of looking in the mirror (AGAINST my better judgment) at the critical moment while birthing my first child. I did NOT look for the second or third. Eeeeew!

Hon, ILY, but I wish you wouldn't talk about "Mr. Spock" on your blog anymore. I've closed mine.

Don't you just love have body parts obviously moving around your skin? I always thought of it as "Aliens" like also.

It is so deliciously creepy. My husband would get the heebie jeebies.

I always thought it was funny, particularly if I rested a book on my belly while reading and G would knock that sucker around.

You are scaring me now. Maybe I don't actually want to be pregnant : )

Although you did make me laugh.

It's not as scary when it's your tummy as it is seeing it in someone else's tummy.

That makes me feel better, but actually, I would love to be pregnant, I'm just not ready for a baby. Strange, huh? I think that feeling the kicking would be soooo exciting!

Alien baby! LOL. I remember when my first daughter kicked for the first time during pregnancy--it was for a Kid Rock song. Thereafter, she'd get jumping when Captain Picard would talk. Your friend just brought out the best in your baby.

Yup the whole third trimester is a little like the move "Alien"- Are you SURE that thing in there is a BABY?! A helpless, fragile little baby?!

And what about when you see the nurses handling your brand new baby not like she's a precious, highly breakable little being, but more like she's a rag doll that needs dressing? Of course, a few months later, you're doing the very same thing...

I remember sitting on the sofa between two friends while we all watched my tummy moving around. Much better than TV - the smooth movements were the best for watching, really freaky, but not alarming.
