Muffin Man and Backyard Girl

We have neighbors who live behind us. They have a little girl who is 5 months younger than Muffin Man. Backyard Girl is Muffin Man's best friend outside of school. He loooooooves her. Yesterday we spent part of the afternoon with her and her Dad at the neighborhood pool and then she came over and helped us make and eat ice cream. MM showed her all his toys and shared his play-doh accessories like a real gentleman. He even shared his scissors with her. This is a really big deal. Seriously.

At the pool, BYG was SWIMMING in the pool. Face in the water and everything. She would jump in and go over her head and then bob up with her head back so her hair would do that perfect-down-the-back thing. She's three! Her dad told us where they take her for lessons, so we'll be taking MM there next Spring.

I hope MM becomes a fish soon, like BYG. I know how much fun I have in the pool, and i couldn't live through an awful HumidityLikeABrickWall summer without the thought of a cool, sparkling pool.

My pool is being dug tomorrow. Next spring you can come here. :-)

Same here. LG is very slow on swimming -- this summer he took his first lessons. Before that he wouldn't go near the water at all. His best friend, Neighbor Lady's daughter, is a swimming wonder.

LG doesn't act like a such a gentleman around her, though. Maybe we could sign him up for gentleman lessons, too?

On vacation we saw a toddler who just threw herself into the pool over and over again. She was loving it, but I was looking around for some Xanax.
More important to be a gentleman than an athlete at this age, IMHO.

That's both of my kids--by age 2 they were diving in the water and coming up with huge grins on their faces. Ella swims ten or more feet underwater all the way now! Good luck with the lessons.

And I know how big a deal it is to share the playdough scissors in our household, so MM must truly be enamored!

Teaching the kids to swim at a young age was one of the best things I have done for them. And it has brought me such peace of mind over the years. Good for you for getting him ready for next spring. It's a great tool.
I want to meet MM!
