Muffin Man Goes to Burger King.

"LOOK MOMMY! WALLACE AND GROMIT! WALLACE AND GROMIT!"

Well, yeah, kid. That's why Mommy brought you here.

Wait until he finds out that they have a new movie out. Shhhhhhhhh, I still haven't told him.

I won't tell. I want to see the movie too. Can I come?

We loved the movie. And we have to go to Burger King! We have W&G toys I bought J. a couple of years ago for Hanukkah - stalked ebay till I found a U.S. seller. We have a little case that opens up into their house; Feathers the penguin; the robot / moondweller; Wendolene; Preston; and a couple of Wallaces and Gromits in different poses.

About your list of books...The Story of Ferdinand is great and fun to read. I'm looking for the book Andrew Henry's Meadow these days, a book I remember from my childhood.

My wife banned Curious George because it shows the monkey smoking a pipe...

Welcome Jemison! Yes, I love the Story of Ferdinand and it is on Muffin Man's Santa list.

Have you tried Olivia? So wonderful.

Olivia? No, but I'm always looking for books that are fun to read for me too. I can't stand having to read asinine books.

Olivia by Ian Falconer. You won't be sorry.

Got it. Like I said, I'm always lookin' for somethin' new for the little booglet. Repetition may be good for them but I've memorized more children's books than I care to tell...

jemison and Liz -- have either of you read "Click, Clack, Moo -- Cows That Type?" It's by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin. It's hilarious. I read it to my kids each year in school. There are sequels, too -- "Giggle, Giggle, Quack", "Duck for President" and "Click, Clack, Quackity-Quack: An Alphabetical Adventure."

Another favorite is "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" by Judi Barrett. this is a great book for kids who love absurdity. My classes always ask "Will it ever REALLY rain food?" I love to tell them that I haven't seen it do so yet, but I'm still waiting.

I'm also fond of "Piggie Pie" by Margie Palatini. There are a lot of good kid's books out there, but you have to weed through a WHOLE lot of bad ones first.

As far as Wallace and Gromit -- I may have to make me a trip to Burger King for some W&G toys. May try to foist that one off on the hubby instead of cooking tonight....:)

(The movie is great, btw! I encourage all to see it!)

I love Wallace and Grommit!

If you get the blinkie shoe thingies in your BK kids meal and they don't work, I FEEL YOUR PAIN.

This is one of the few times that I wish Frances were older. So she could enjoy fun things like Wallace and Gromit.

But that's got to earn you some mommy brownie points?

we saw it! there are some mildly scary bits--morphing wererabbit, the big chase scene to get the giant rabbit, things like that. the boy was fine during the flick, but afterwards said, "mom, there have to be some scary parts to make the movie more interesting, right?" so he must have been a tiny bit scared at some point. he used to make us leave (nemo shark scene) and couldn't watch thomas and the magic railroad in spite of the fact that he looooooooooooves thomas because of the diesel 10 business.

W&G is cute and amusing.

KLee, we love of all of those books!

Susie, it was your letter to BK that tipped me off to the existance of the W&G toys.

Which, btw, they were out of at my local BK. Fortunately, Muffin Man was, and still is, perfectly happy with the bucket the food came in.

liz, Baby H and I were at BK the other day (I was dying for some flame broiled fat smothered in mayo) and the employee said that the bucket was the toy for the week.

MM is wonderful!

My girls are asking to go see the movie. Thankfully I can make the 18yr old go with them and I don't have to. LOL

Personally, I can't wait to go. And we may go tomorrow.

Angie and Instamom, you will love them. Wallace is a goofy inventor and Gromit is his dog who is far more intelligent than Wallace.

In their first 3 short film adventures they have flown to the moon to get cheese (A Grand Day Out); wrangled with an evil penguin (The Wrong Trousers); and dealt with a sheep rustler (A Close Shave).

They are hilariously funny. And don't get (too) stale after repeated (ad infinitum) viewings.

Hey! We're planning on going to see Wallace and Gromit tomorrow, too! (except I'm behind and tomorrow is Saturday rather than the day you may well have seen it) I picked up the first 3 in the 5.50 DVD bin at Wal-Mart and my husband said, "Don't buy that. We have enough movies!" Ha! Now Annika is addicted to them, too. I'm sad to say that Joerg still doesn't get it. We might have to go to BK, too. Annika's never been.
