I am ashamed

Single parenting again this weekend starting tonight and ending Sunday.

I'm kind of tired from hauling my under-exercised butt from class to class today (10,400 steps) and when I picked up Muffin Man from PNP, he was kinda Tigger-ish. So we went out for fast food and a game of tag at Booger King (one of the ones with a habitrail for kids). And when we got home he was just NOT LISTENING. NOT. LISTENING. And we managed to spill mineral oil on the floor which he then STEPPED IN AFTER I TOLD HIM NOT TO.

And so I yelled at him. Loudly.

Not my best moment.

Liz, I have so been there and done that. Just last night, for example. The only reason to be ashamed is if you don't learn from it and vow to do better next time. Which I know you're doing. So ease up on yourself. You're not just MysteryMommy, you're MarvelousMommy and don't you forget it.

What Corndog said. Except that I have been there all. day. Seriously, LG announced that he was going to go live in the backyard from now on. And I'm not even single parenting yet. My stint will be Sunday-Tuesday. I need to get my act together NOW.

I gotta try to be more like Marvelous Mommy, like you!

But poor Muffin Man shouldn't have his mommy turn into a big monster with hairy teeth while his daddy isn't home to cuddle with.

Granted, we cuddled later and I apologized so we're all better, but still...

I think it is important for him to learn about different moods and how to read them and react to them.

I know that skill served my dear sweetie very well during the planning of the wedding this past week.

So, really, you are being a good parent because you are giving MM skills!

*hugs*

We've all been there and done that. None of us are perfect.

Everybody has those nights. They linger with you for far longer than they linger with your children. Particularly Tiggerish children!

I agree with all the above. I am positive that MuffinMan won't remember those moments. Only the wonderful ones.

I had MANY of those moments when my kids were little. At least it gave me a chance to model apologizing ....

And my kids turned out fine.

Oh yeah, definitely been there too. I'm just gonna repeat what's been said aready, but I'll do it anyway. I know you feel bad about it, but you know kids are more resilient than we give them credit for sometimes. It's not the worst thing in the world for him to see you act like a human being and to get mad at stupid things or to act irrationally, and then for you to calm down and apologize and cuddle with him.

It's tough when routines change around and when you're wiped out. Hope you have a restfuller weekend.
