Consequences

Muffin Man loves to play on his computer. And he hates to get dressed in the morning. So the rule is, no computer on school days until fully clothed for the day. Sometimes, he gets the concept - other days, not so much.

Today was one of those days. "I WANT TO PLAY ON THE COMPUTER!!"
"You took too long. I told you that you were using up computer time."
"I WASN'T! I'M DRESSED NOW!"
"Yes, but you took a long time to get dressed. When you take too long, you end up not having enough time to play on the computer."
"I WANT TO! I WANT TO PLAY!"

Let the sobbing begin.

Ah yes, toddler logic definitely has its challenges!

If only toddler's were reasonable human beings. Isn't it frustrating? I always find myself thinking "If she would just calm down and listen for a minute, I'm sure she would come to terms with the reality of the situation and apply the knowledge of this experience next time."

We have the same rule in our house. My kid is almost 13, so the sobbing thing is now more of a sighing and stomping thing.

Buckle your seatbelt!

You know, I'm still having trouble with this concept myself. Sigh.
