Mama's got a brand new bag...

New backpack, that is. It is so sweet. It's a laptop bag, but it'll comfortably hold books. Which is mostly what it'll be carrying except for those rare times when I have presentations. Like yesterday, when I was hauling my laptop in one bag and my books in another.

Also, I bought a new binder which hopefully will actually bind. And paper. Ooooh.

What is it about new school supplies that get a person all giddy? I feel like I should put brand new pennies in my loafers.

I get it. I used to shop from it all the time.

Now, being as I'm no longer making a salary, I close my eyes and...gulp...throw it away.

Oh I buy notebooks I don't need, legal pads, little pads, stickers, pencils, and never use them...yep, I get you on the school supplies thing.

Anything remotely related to stationery and art supplies and project supplies, photo doo-dads, you name it! I must keep my hands in my pockets more.

Mmmm... I can smell the new pencils and feel the new pencil box, ruler, notebook and eraser in my hands. Brings me back to the simpler times of grade school.

I don't know, but stationery stores are a happy place for me too.

Politica got me personalized stationery for my birthday last year. I'm so happy with it.

School supplies rock. When I was in grades 1-3, I got a leather briefcase each year for school, and I still love the smell of new leather b/c it takes me back to the excitement of the start of the school year, that endless possibility for all kinds of cool stuff to happen. By grade 4, we switched to a school-produced vinyl bag, which made more sense from a kid-friendly angle but I miss the leather. (As a parent, I can't imagine my child needing a big leather briefcase sort of thing, but that's what we all had in 1968.)

I also love school supply shopping! September is always a little glum for me when I realize that another year goes by and I'm not in school.

Sounds like you are enjoying this!

I love office supplies! You should have seen me cringing when I helped clean out an office complex and they threw away thousands of binders!! It made me nearly insane. :-s
