Er Eh Duh

Muffin Man (looking at a balloon from a nearby eatery): "Er...Eh...Duh. Erehduh. RED! It says RED Mommy!"

My big boy read a word all by himself!

And right after it, he said this: "Er...ah...buh...in. Erahbin. ROBIN!"

He's starting to READ!

Wonderful! Sounding out words is the way to successfully decode larger ones! Have you seen the Dolch word list? (For those of you who don't know what it is, it's a list of high-frequency words that goes from pre-primer age all the way to about fifth grade. We use it to teach words that children should be able to read by sight.)

If you don't have the list, I'll be happy to email you a copy of it, and you can start pointing out these words to Muffin Man, and his reading will take off like a rocket! He'll be writing novels any time now! Of course, none of us are really surprised -- how can he NOT be fabulous with such role models as his parents?
