Three (No! Four!) things I have never done or wanted to do that other people do.

  1. Smoke cigarettes. Family history. Plus they're stinky.
  2. Get a tattoo. Yeah. Right. You know me. Long hair, short hair, long hair, short hair, glasses, contacts, glasses, contacts, makeup, no makeup. I would get sick of a tattoo within a year.
  3. Get anything other than my earlobes pierced. And I hardly ever even wear those.
  4. Dye my hair. Perms, yes (but never again). Dyes, no.

What about you?

I have done everything on your list.

Fortunately, I no longer smoke and haven't for years.

Unfortunately, I found out the hard way (laser removal) what it takes to get rid of a tattoo that you no longer find amusing.

For reasons unknown to me I have had my belly button pierced twice. (no longer)

I must highlight my hair. It is a cruel joke that my naturally blonde hair gets a bit darker every year.

I'm trying to think of something I wouldn't or haven't done. Hmmm... I've always been one for trying things good or bad so let me get back to you.

I didn’t get a tattoo, either, even though quiet a few of my Navy buddies did, and I watch some of them. My day drove a gas truck for over 30 years, and one of his delivery stops was the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary. He would drive between to entry gates, get out and let the trustees drive his truck into the unloading area. While he waited, there was an inmate that was putting a tattoo of the American flag on his right forearm with a pin and pencil lead. He would get a little done each time he went to the prison. About three quarters of the way though, the guy died and the work went unfinished the rest of his life. He use to tell me how much he regretted doing it and advised me not to do it because it would be forever (at least back then that was the thought). So I listened – one of the few times I ever did.

I was wandering about all the women who, back in the 60’s, were having butterfly’s put on their boobs. I bet the butterflies look like condors, now, what with gravity and all.

Ditto, ditto, ditto, but I have colored my hair with those at-home wash-out-in-a-few-shampoos colors.

1. Ditto

2. Ditto

3. Ditto

4. Ehhhh... I'm 45 and the single grays are starting to think about ganging up. But I do have a constant permanent (what can I say -- I have a curly personality and straight hair) and I'm not sure how badly doing both will fry it.

5. Ski. If I can break a foot bone because I turned my ankle on a 1/2-inch drop-off, what would I do on a ski slope?

I could have written your list, check, check, check, check. I could add manicures/pedicures.

* tatoos
* dreadlocks
* body piercing (other than earlobes)
* got so drunk I threw up/passed out
* hard drugs

+ I have smoked (gave up)
+ I have and still do, colour(ed) my hair (bleached and henna'd myself, highlights at the hairdressers)

Good list there Liz.

I've never drank. Never. Family history combined with first boyfriend alcoholic was a winning combo. It has never appealed to me. Although several men I've dated have said, "It'd be interesting to see you drunk."

Um, no.

1- tried it once - blech! never again!

2- me either

3 - me either - have contemplated a small rhinestone in the nose, but dh thinks they are little more than sparkly boogers

4 - since the babushka's the red that claimed me all my life decided to fade - so I keep it "real" lol...

5 - I've never left the country, much to my dismay!

This made me laugh . . . especially the tattoo one.

I dyed my hair a few times, until I decided I'd rather have grey hair than hives on my head.

purple_kangaroo said...

Oh, and it was that semi-permanent dye that washes out eventually. In the exciting color of (drumroll please) . . .

brown.

I put my list up here.

I have smoked but I quit. I have colored my hair but not in a long time. The tattoo bit is so not happening here either. Anything pierced other than ears is a HUGE no-no.

1. I''m 40 (ack!!!) and my husband and I got tiny tattooes fairly recently.

2. I cut and dye my hair with wild abandon. In fact, I put on a base coat of brownish red last night during Idol and I'm waiting for my son to get home from school to help with highlights.

What I've never done:
- Seen Law & Order, Lost, Survivor
- read a Stephen King novel
- enjoyed white chocolate
- had a TV in my bedroom (this took some up front marital negotiation)

Smoked-quit 23 years ago
Tattoo-never have, never will-too chicken
Ears-pierced, one hole each ear, no other piercings-too chicken
Dyed hair-does henna from the health food store count?

I quit smoking a number of years ago.

I have two tattoos and I have many many plans for others.

I have had my nose pierced.

I believe I have had every colour of hair under the rainbow. Although since high school I've toned (har har) that down a bit. I now tend to have a brown base with chunks of blond and areas of low-lights. I pretty much colour my hair every six weeks or so.

I don't know if I have a list of my own... but I'll think of something and put it on my blog blog.
