_ick

MM had a TICK! ON! HIS! HEAD!

It was a Diamond Back Dog Tick. So no Lyme disease, thank goodness. But ICK! A TICK!

According to the doctor who removed it this morning, the best way to remove a tick is to rub it with lots and lots of soap and then use a tweezers to pull that sucker off. Next time, we'll do it ourselves. We were worried that we wouldn't remove it all.

*gasp*

AB had a tick the other day! I was stunned. We found it relatively early, we think, because the head wasn't really dug in yet. Thank God! We removed it with tweezers, but it didn't hurt him much.

Our new backyard has a wooded section with lots of fallen leaves. Whenever we let the kids out to play, I worry they will come back in with either ticks or poison ivy.
I'm not sure any of my kids would sit still with tweezers coming at their heads though. Was MM bothered by it?

I hate ticks! My kids have never had one but I remember my aunt plucking them off of me and my cousins when we used to play in the barn.

The tick was on the back of his head under his hair, so he didn't have to watch the process.

The worst part to him was when he had to bend over the bathroom sink to get all the soap out.

Blecch!! You know, the baby books never talk about this stuff ;)

(You can have the Honorable Mention award in my "Creature Feature" contest, though! How about "Ticked-off Moment of the Week"?)

Aaaaccccckkkkk!!!

Good catch, though. How did you catch it? We're not doing a regular tick check or anything, but I suppose we should be . . .

MM had been playing at being Peter Pan and put "pixie dust" in his hair. Sand. Lots of sand and dirt. It took 3 shampooings to get it all out.

Deb! Thank you for the award!

When I was about 6 I was at a Lions Club meeting with my dad--he found a tick (ugh...UGH!) on my head and in the whole room full of doctors and such no one could figure out how to get it off. Then a dude with longish nails just pulled the sucker out of my scalp...I don't remember the rest like how they made sure the head came out and all--I probably have blocked it out--but I am still traumatized!

If L or A had ticks I would FREAK OUT.

Wouldn't you know it...yesterday I pulled a tick off of Rain. It was crawling across the top of her head so I didn't need any special techniques for removal. But still, eewww...
