Question for you all

When did you learn cursive writing? I remember learning it in 3rd grade. MM is learning in NOW. In 2nd grade. AND HIS WRITING IS BETTER THAN MINE.

Whoa.

it was the same for me and my kids -- i learned in 3d, and they learned in 2d.

beginning reading also changed in that time. we did the alphabet and such in K, learning to sound words out in 1st, but my kids and their classes were beginning readers in K.

I learned in second (I remember this, because I broke my arm at the beginning of second grade, and my poor cursive handwriting was for many years the bane of my mother's existence) and my kids "learned" in third.

I put that in scare quotes because they spent about 4 glancing seconds on the subject, and according to the teachers, will never be required to use it again.

I can't remember, but it would've been grade 3 or 4. D is in 4, but hasn't really done much. His writing is appalling though, so he's not really ready for cursive. ANd he's left handed...
