D'Oh!!!!

This morning started off pretty good. Mr. Spock and I got up on time, he took a shower, then I took a shower. He started getting Muffin Man ready while I dressed. I was looking sharp in my red suit (pants and blazer, a lovely nose-bleed red) with my black cami underneath the blazer. We go downstairs for breakfast (Kashi Go-Lean Crunch with milk, and coffee. WW 4.5 points.) I take off my blazer so as not to spill skim milk all over it, something I am quite capable of. I clear the table and Mr. Spock and Muffin Man go tootling off to daycare in the Spock-mobile. I lock up the house and head off to work, arriving fifteen minutes later, in good time for my nine o'clock meeting.

Y'all know what happened right? I'm going into detail here. WHAT HAVE I LEFT BACK AT HOME?

The blazer. It's on the back of my chair in the kitchen. It is now 8:35. I don't have time to go back for it. I will have to go to the meeting wearing my red pants and my black cami. I'm mortified. It's not that I don't look okay. I do. It's that, what with my figure and all, a black cami is not...appropriate office wear. It just isn't.

I go to the meeting. As soon as the meeting is over I rush home to get the blazer and rush back. Phew. I resolve to never take it off again.

Which is why there's a big Shepherd's Pie stain on it now.

  3. APL, I seem to be the only person in this building who wears a jacket. Most others wear the business casual summer uniform of golf shirt and chinos. The dressiest most people get is dress shirt and tie.

But, since I'm a diminutive little person, I wear a suit to be taken more seriously. Guess I blew that to smithereens.

  4. Oh, poor Liz! But I'm laughing hysterically...

I know some other women around your height who also made it a huge point to dress up, in an attempt to get taken more seriously despite their very high score on the little-and-cute meter...

  6. Oh no! Yes, being small and cute makes it difficult for people to take one seriously. Though I'm sure you got their attention this morning, jacket or no!

  7. I so feel for you. And the stains? Happens to me all the time (hence the fabulous stain hiding scarves I keep in my purse).

  8. I've taken to keeping a cardigan at my desk at school for those days I wear a tank top and then get called into a meeting with some 'important person' at the uni.

But nothing beats the time I was late for a job interview and I showed up in the parking lot only to discouver I wore two different shoes - on flat, one with an inch heel.

    *doh!*

Oh no! LOL I sympathize on teh figure thing. There are some attributes which make shopping for appropriate office wear a real challenge.

  10. 1. She looked great.

    2. This is why I keep a full suit of clothes in every office I have.

    3. There is no "Spock-mobile." As Muffin-Man will confirm, there is only, "Rocket Ship!"
