Latkes of love

I made them. Fried. Oil. Oh, the sweet sizzling of it.

We ate them. Fried. Potatoes. Onions. Ohhhh, why oh why does heart disease have to run in my family? I want to eat the fried potato-y goodness forever.

And then, could it get any better? Mallomars for dessert.

Heaven is hanukkah.

    So yummmmmmmmmmy.
We had them elsewhere, so the bonus is my house doesn't smell like oil, but the negative is no leftover latkes.

Happy Hanukkah to all of you!!

  4. I had waffle fries last night. Not quite the same thing. I am jealous!

  5. We made them too, and my house still smells like it.

The leftover latkes-for-breakfast were pronounced "too potatoey" by Snuggly Girl, which meant I got half of one for breakfast and there's one more waiting for me for lunch!

I heard a funny story about someone else's preschooler -- wouldn't eat the mass produced latkes at a family party because "they don't have points!" That's a pretty good proxy for latke quality, I think.

  7. I couldn't finish reading your post 'cause of all the drool on my laptop screen. When I'm on death row, that's going to be my last meal.

  9. I haven't made latkes yet this year! Maybe tomorrow, though. Yours do sound extremely yummy.

  11. Mmm - latkes. A couple of years ago, Christmas coincided with Hanukkah, and so we had latkes with Christmas dinner. But, we had two batches - one fried in oil, and one fried in goose fat. Hands down, the goose fat won. The vegetarian even agreed (he fell off the wagon for goose fat).
