Musical musings from yesterday morning's commute

These songs were playing unrelatedly between 7:30 and 8:30 on various stations yesterday morning. What do they have in common? Am I right to feel freaked out?

Suite Judy Blue Eyes, by CSNY
Hungry Like the Wolf, by Duran Duran
Take a Walk on the Wild Side, by Lou Reed
Tom's Diner, by Suzanne Vega

Do. Do Do. Do Do., etc. Creepy. Although I bet if you did a survey, wordless vocalizations such as these are present in at least 10% of popular songs. Still, a pretty dramatic sample here.

I was going to say that what they have in common is that you have been listening to radio stations that have a demographic skewed toward a certain age group. Mine.

The other week I was running an errand in the car, and heard a bunch of great songs I loved all in a row. I got excited. Then I realized I was listening to not to the edgy station that I usually have on because I want to hear interesting, cool new stuff (and look cool) - but to the "this is okay stuff to listen to at the office" station. Then I was sad. Sigh. Next thing you know, E-Z listening.

But, you know, the do do thing too.
