Thanks, folks! I made the banner using our family camera and The GIMP (a free program that does most of what Adobe Photoshop does; it runs under Linux instead of Windows).
The banner's not perfect, for sure. Some of the objects ought to be more in scale with the others (the wooden spoon, for example, is kind of tiny). But, I only spent four hours on it, start to finish, including the time needed for the photographs.
The background is one of Liz's bookshelves. The picture of Liz on the left, and our son on the right, is from a camping trip we took last May. The ball she's tossing to him may look like a gleam on one of the books in the bookshelf, but it's actually from the original picture.
This was a lot of fun to put together. I'm so glad Liz and her friends like it.
