Done!

Enjoyable, but not one of the top 3 in the series.

Not one of the top 3? Really? I thought it was great. I found it immensely satisfying. It had almost all the aspects I was hoping for and not many of the ones I wasn't. And I got mine from Borders so it came with a beanie baby owl. D will be very pleased. I haven't let him read any of them yet, or see the movies...

When I look too closely at it, I get upset because it doesn't do everything I wanted to. But when I'm not looking too closely at the pieces, I have to admit that I enjoyed reading it immensely. So it sort of depends on my POV.

I know I liked 1 and 3 best, and 6 least, but after that, I have a very hard time ranking them. I should force myself to consider the question, but really, I don't know how I'd go about making that call.

I do NOT think 7 would be top-3 for me, but I'm not sure...

Like Jody said, I enjoyed it tremendously, but stepping back, I have issues with some of the decisions made.

What are your top 3? Azkaban, Goblet and Order? (I'm just guessing of course, having read none of them. Although I did, at the request of a begging AB, read out loud chapter 1 of book 1 this weekend.)

I enjoyed it. Given all the things the book needed to achieve to give fans the answers, scenes and confrontations they wanted, I thought it did a good job.

That said, I didn't think it was one of the best either. Book 6 was the only one I thought bordered on actually being bad. Book 7 I thought worked, I just felt it was longer than it needed to be, and one could hear the plot machinery creaking at times to get to the desired scenes.

All in all, though, I was happy with it. I thought it did what it needed to do, and it was a fun read. And when I think, for example, how horribly awry Joss went in the last seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I have to say it was actually an amazing accomplishment to pull it together so well.
