this whole thing has made me sick from the beginning. the entire theory of this memo is that people are expendable, and the rule of law does not apply if the president says so.
Yeah. Was it on an episode of Duck Man that had James Madison say, "The Bill of Rights applies to everyone, everywhere, all the time, no exceptions"?Sigh.
well, see, that's for "us." not for "them." and certain people associated with the administration believe they get to say who is "us" and who is "them." how these people believe any US citizen is safe overseas after this kind of BS is beyond me. it's not totally clear that all US citizens are safe here, either. in my opinion.i'm a total supporter of the bill of rights. we all should be. due process of law is the greatest thing before or after sliced bread, and a lot more important -- the right to notice of the charges, and to be heard in one's defense, among other things. i love me some 8th amendment, too. and the right to counsel. the right to not have statements coerced out of you. these people should KNOW better. it's not like they are even getting reliable evidence out of the trashing of the bill of rights.
Whoah....This administration has got to be one of the most unethical our country has ever seen.Fucking lovely is right, Liz.:shakes head in disgust:
John Yoo has done more to undermine the state of civil liberties in this country than any other non-elected public official in recent memory. The fact that Nancy Pelosi has absolutely refused to initiate or even entertain the idea of impeachment proceedings against this bunch has severely eroded my confidence in her.
Kathy A.: Exactly.
