We just planted two late-fruiting blueberry bushes. Sometime next year, we will take a collander, go out the door of our screened-in porch, down the steps onto the patio, around the corner to the shady side of the house, and pick blueberries. Then we will bring them back inside, rinse them, pat them dry, and make blueberry pancakes with our own blueberries.

Yum.....nothing to do but read Blueberries for Sal and wait for summer, eh?
Mmmmm....blueberries! Make sure to take pictures of MM with a blueberry-purple mouth! :)
OOh. I don't actually like blueberries - they make my mouth itch, a slight allergy perhaps, but I planted two bushes against the back fence for the beloved. Sadly the water restrictions and the dog have conspired against me. They're still alive, but not by much. I hope yours go better, but you have climate on your side.
One of the few fond childhood memories I have is of summer blackberries. We had briars all along the perimeter of our back yard...on top of that, we lived in fruit country and would go to farms and pick blueberries, strawberries, etc for my grandmother to "put up" (i.e. can, jam, jelly, freeze) for the next year...
Northern CO is not the same climate, sadly. :(
We just planted grape, raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry bushes ourselves!
Yum. I'm going to do that too!
They wouldn't even make it to the house. Both Maggie & Will LoveLoveLove blueberries & would eat them right from the bush.
