Blogging with Muffin Man on my lap

Hectic weekend. We had a party for Muffin Man's birthday. Three of his friends came over with their parents (plus MakesBooksForGrandkids, SingsLullabyes, my SIL and her husband) and we all had a really, really good time. Unfortunately, I forgot to charge the camera before the party, so I have a little video and two pictures of MM's friends, but no cake picture. And the
cake was HUGELY POPULAR.

Can anyone guess what frickin' character was on the cake?

That's right! Tt(f)TE!!!

I think we will be having leftover cake for breakfast.

MakesBooksForGrandkids lived up to his name! Muffin Man has a book that's all about him.

Cake with coffee is the perfect breakfast.

So glad you had a wonderful weekend!

Cake for EVERYBODY!!

Mr. Spock and I are trying to come up with a term for a small group of 3 & 4 year old boys. So far we have:

A tempest of toddlers.
A flail of four-year-olds.
A mess of boys.
A yell of young 'uns.

Any others?

Wow, congrats to you for managing the birthday party in the home. No one in our birthday party circuit does that at all. We would, but the birthdays are in December and Feruary so we couldn't count on going outside and we've decided to wait a year or two before being the groundbreaking family that returns to parties at home for kids.

A bounce of preschoolers.
A wriggle of boys.
A perpetual motion machine of mini-men.

The key is SMALL. We invited 3 boys and a girl. The girl couldn't make it and the parents of one boy asked if they could bring his younger (by nine months) brother as well. So we ended with the same amount.

4 boys + 9 Adults = just about the right ratio.

The other key was SHORT - 2 hours. After nap. We let them play and have shenanigans for about an hour, then we did cake and ice cream and let them play and have shenanigans again. It worked.

Happy Belated Birthday, MM! I'm glad fun was had by all.

I agree with Scriv that you were very ambitious with having a home birthday party. Offspring always wants to invite everyone and their brother, so we can't fit all those people into our house. We've other-place parties every year for this very reason.

A Tt(f)TE cake?! Wow -- that's a sure sign of a Mama that loves her boy -- willing to buy a Thomas cake! (I can commiserate...I've bought many a Cinderella cake. :)

Happy birthday!!! Curious Girl is running around the room singing "Do you know the muffin man..." which is quite appropriate. It sounds like just my kind of party, Liz: low key fun for all.
