For me, it was the day that J. walked to the dinner table reading a book because he couldn't bear to stop reading it for a minute. (however, nothing like that has happened lately)
daughter is a book fiend, too. when the next-to-last harry potter came out, she was about to fly home from a month in japan. i gave her the book at the airport, and except for a quick dinner, she read it through without stopping. meaning she stayed up most of the night.
'course, she was 16 then. but the urgency of reading started a lot earlier.
